ABOUT THE BAND.

On a stormy night in December '23, Ropp and Dirk met by chance in a rehearsal room in an industrial complex. They quickly realized that they had many common interests when it came to the creation and sound of music. So the bet was made: could they manage to produce an EP with three songs in three months? If so, great, if not, no problem.
The debutalbum "Six Tales Of Perception" already showed what can happen if two software engineers exchange their notebooks for notes and start writing symphonic progressive rock instead. Ropp Köhler (keyboards, composition) and Dirk Krause (vocals, guitars, composition) come from different prog schools but build detailed, story-driven compositions - put together, fittingly, by two people who never even agreed on which DAW to use.
On their second album, "A Layman's Guide to Unobtainium," Castle Mountain Moon trade their debut's perception for something invisible: eleven songs built around maps - some that lead, some that lie - all aimed at something we wouldn't recognize even if we found it. "We wrote about something that, by definition, only exists when you don't have it," says Dirk Krause. "Still, we chase it - so somebody had towrite a manual in layman's terms and hide it in the music, right before our eyes."

Dirk: Voc, Git, Bass

Singer/Guitarist Dirk Krause brings a captivating presence to the forefront, delivering lyrics that explore deep existential themes and cosmic concepts. Dirk was not only the frontman of the former Jethro Tull tribute band Thick As A Brick, but is best known as a member of the hard rock band Radio Anyhwere.

Ropp: Keys

Composer/Keyboarder Robert Köhler showcases virtuosic skills, delivering mesmerizing solos that weave seamlessly into the tapestry of the band's sound. Ropp's musical background is not only in prog rock, but also in art rock and prog metal, especially with his current band 'Synthagma' and former bands 'Kampai', 'Inquire' and 'Emerald Edge'.
